Peter Fletcher’s Discount Light Bulbs Website

Discount Light Bulbs was developed in 2009, nearly two years after I had the idea to create this site. As a master licensed electrician, I’ve spent a lot of time becoming familiar with technology, but, believe it or not, light bulbs despite being one of the oldest electrical innovations still utilized today, was one technology I lacked any sort of advanced knowledge on. Yes, of course, I knew the basics and uses, but that was about it.

One day while sitting in the dentist office waiting room of all places, I picked up a magazine and began reading an article calling for politicians to listen to public demand for more environmental friendly energy solutions, and one of the main topics was replacing the incandescent light bulb with compact fluorescent lights.

Needless to say, this topic was of a great interest to me, and in the two years to follow I spent a lot of time following both light bulb technology developments and the actions of various governments mandating change in lighting technology.

One thing I found frustrating in my research was the amount of time it took me searching the internet for information. The internet lacked a solid website that covered light bulb technology. I pledged that someday when I had greater knowledge on the topic, I’d start a detailed website where everything someone wanted to know about light bulbs could be found.

Now the idea for this website evolved a little at a time. You see, as I started familiarizing myself with light bulbs technology, I began aching to try various different light bulbs myself. I wanted rooms with SAD lights, rooms with CFLs, rooms with LEDs. I wanted to see and compare the difference first hand.

After investing a great deal into purchasing light bulbs for my own personal use, research and enjoyment, I got the idea for the current discount theme. Of course, much of what is covered on our pages still relates to my initial plans to cover technology, news and tips, but each page does contain valuable tips on finding discount light bulbs which goes along with the overall theme.

In time I hope to expand this site to possibly have a blog and maybe even review on every model of light bulb ever developed. For now I feel it is detailed enough for the average reader, I do have a bit of a passion for this subject, so we’ll see in time where that takes me.
